As a retired Chief of Police with a notable 36 years of combined military and civilian experience, Roy Eckerdt has dedicated his life to serving and protecting communities. Currently, he proudly serves as the President of the CIT International Board of Directors and as the CIT Wyoming Coordinator, where he continues to champion mental health awareness and community partnerships.

State of Wyoming CIT Teams are available in many communities. They are teams trained from the CIT nonprofit organization that supports the implementation and expansion of Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) programs in various communities and agencies. Communities serve people in crisis through mental health services and peer support with the involvement of law enforcement systems.
CIT International, Inc. envisions a community where every person in a behavioral health crisis receives a compassionate response that promotes their well-being.
To promote community collaboration using the CIT Program to assist people living with a behavioral health
disorder who are in crisis.
The words “Crisis Intervention Team,” were created by the 1988 Memphis Police Department, which developed, initiated, and spread this specialized community-oriented program that improves the lives of mentally ill persons, their families, and law enforcement officers CIT has spread throughout the globe and their law enforcement agencies/community partners.
